Very good question! Has been found. I really need to answer this question because it is very important to be answered. Writing in the exam is crucial part of this journey, If you can't select the language for writing the exam in the UPSC mains then you will be failed as obvious.

Your question's answer is Yes! you can write the UPSC  mains with the HIndi language. Since UPSC has given us the opportunity to write exam in any of the language enlisted in the 22 constitution languages and Hindi is one of them.

You can select/choose any of the language given below as medium of writing in the UPSC mains exam. I will suggest go with the language that you feel confident therein. Even you can write your UPSC mains exam  in your regional language if it is listed in the list.

Currently, the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution contains 22 languages-

Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Bodo, Santhali, Maithili and Dogri.
