There is also an IAS who was made DM only for 6 days. The name of this IAS officer is Sriram Venkitaraman. IAS Sriram Venkitaraman is the second topper of the UPSC exam of the year 2012. He has also studied medicine. Sriram Venkitaraman was born on 28 November 1986 in Panampilly Nagar Kochi. His father P.R. Venkitaraman is a retired zoology professor and also a career consultant. His mother Rajam used to work in State Bank of India.
He completed his schooling in 2004 from Bhavansh Vidya Mandir-Girinagar. He Completed MBBS from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram in 2010. After this he did MD in General Medicine from Sri Ram Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. He cleared the Indian Civil Services Examination in his second attempt in 2012. He was the second topper of his batch. He later did his MPH from Harvard University with a Fulbright scholarship.
The reason for his removal was the allegations leveled against him. IAS Sriram Venkitaraman is accused of hitting a journalist with a drunk car. The journalist had died in the accident. IAS Sriram Venkitaraman was made the main accused in this incident that took place on 3 August 2019. When the Kerala government made him the Alappuzha District Collector, people opposed him and the government had to remove him from the post of DM and transfer him to another place. He was appointed as the District Collector on 24 July and joined on 26 July. He was removed from this post on 1 August.
